1st weekend of bow in PA

Postby BBQ Bob » Tue Oct 07, 2008 11:22 am

Well, came up empty handed.

The first Morning, I had an idiot drive up in his 4 wheeler about 20 yards from my stand right a day break. I had 10 deer coming down the trail headed right at me about 50 yards of and he pulled up and sat there with the 4 wheeler running, in his blue jeans with his bow in his hand making all kinds of noise. After speaking with him, turns out he has never shot a deer or even seen one during hunting season, Go figure!! I told him off!

That afternoon, saw nothing in my other stand.

Monday Morning saw nothing back in the first stand.

Monday night had about 20 deer come by just as it was too dark to shoot.

One of the monster's we have been seeing came out into the field about 4 pm on Sunday and smiled at us:) We can't hunt on Sundays.

Got a 3 day hunt coming up the first week of Nov. We'll Smoke em then!

Anybody else do anything?

Bow success

Postby Bushie Jackman » Wed Oct 08, 2008 6:33 am

Not much luck here BOB, been in the woods here in Maryland numerous times. I have seen a lot of nice shooter deer, but nothing within range.
I own a 4 wheeler and yes they can become a major problem in the deer hunting woods. I always walk to my stand, and only use the 4 wheeler to haul out a kill due to (rhuematoid arthritis).
The Hunting club I joind just finalized new rules on 4 wheelers. Indicating that on morning hunts, you can utilize your 4 wheeler when the group is ready to go in. After that, if your late, you have to walk in, and you can not leave the woods with your 4 wheeler until after 11:00 am.

4 wheelers

That makes complete sense to me. We have a 4 wheeler also but we use it wisely. We come in to our stand from the opposite side of the mountain and park it 500 yards away and walk in. We are in our stands 45 minutes before day break. This guy drove up right past the trails from the feeding fields and raod around the field looking for a spot at 6:10 am??? Right at day break. Then he sat on the quad 20 yards in front of me as it idled facing the open field as if the deer were going to pop out of goffer holes or something. It's just frustrating that we spent months of planning and good money to get the perfect spot just to have it ruined by someone so ignorant.

Well, maybe we can teach him how to hunt correctly and he can work with us instead of against us.
