im looking at a 22-250 for big coons,possums,foxes etc. but will be shooting in close quarters.does this load have the sound of a 270 or something or more like a 22.

This is not a cartridge to be take lightly. It was originally a 250-3000 case necked down to .224 if that tells you anything. It has the sound much the same as the 270 loud and carries for a long way

Better stick with a .22 rifle. I personally never saw the need for anything bigger for your coons and possums...especially if you're selling the hides. Like cynic said...22-250 is loud and carries a long ways.

Maybe you should check your game laws. We can only hunt coons with a rim fire-singleshot here! :roll:
