.257 Weatherby Mag

Postby BlackbirdHiLL » Mon Dec 08, 2008 11:40 am

Just trying to get some info on this gun. Is it worth buying? I've been reading up on it and it seems to be a good gun for deer hunting and thats pretty much all I'll be using it for. Looking for some advice from someone that has fired a .257 Weatherby.

Just curious, what type of hunting will you be using it for?

Deer hunting mainly, I may shoot a coyote with it once in awhile.

I don't have any experience with the 257 Weatherby, but I have seen the 25-06 in action and it drops whitetails as if they were struck by lightning. I would imagine that the 257 Weatherby exceeds the 25-06 by 300 or 400 fps at a minimum. Let us know how it shoots when you get it.

That's what I used to shoot was a 25-06. Recently our house was broken into & some stuff along with my 25-06 were taken. I was going to buy another 25-06 but I started doing some research and It looks like the .257 can do the same but shoots flatter & faster. Only bad thing is the ammo price & availability. I Dont think that should be a big conercn though.
