i dont have any experience with it, but i think it would make a good deer gun. as for yotes, i think it is to much, unless you dont have any plans for the pelt. i think it would do to much damage to the coyote to do anything but throw it away. I also think it would make a GREAT cat gun. visit here for reasons.

Yeah, we have real heavy coyote population around where I hunt in New York they don't do much killing, but alot of damage. Not only do they rip open every tarp on the local farmers silage pits looking for mice but they really are pests when it comes to the deer, they have driven them right out.. So what I'm trying to say is im not looking to save the pelt im just looking to splatter them..

Hey Joel, maybe the rifle you had didnt like handloads. All rifles are different and group better with different ammo. You may buy a rifle that only likes handloads and puts them in a 1/2" group or better, but another rifle hates the handloads and wants Remington 130gr. roundnose. My point is that all rifles like different gr. ammo and powder charges. My .270 liked Win. 130gr. super x, but LOVED 140gr. Hornady SST's. It went from a 2in. group down to 1in. or less. I can now get them to touch each other.

My brother has a rifle that hate 150gr. round nose, but likes 150gr. ballistic tips. It will aslo shoot 130gr. round nose as good as the 150gr. ballistic tips. Its all in the rifle. Kepp up the good work all.

I think that it has a lot to do with the size of the projectile. Each company have their own style. The smaller the projectile, the more accurate, given they have the same amount of powder.

I've been really impressed with the Federal this year.

And if you think your Coyotes arent bothering your deer population, you are most likely sadly mistaken. Coyotes are HUGE factor in fawn survival. If you have ever been in a place that has any kind of drout you will see the coyote population go UP while the deer population goes down in the year or two after the drout. Why? Not only does the food availability effect the deer, drout also effects undergrowth which provides cover for fawns in Spring. Without it, they are easy prey for coyotes.
Not many coyotes here, but foxes out the wazoo. And the state wonders why they are having so much problems getting the turkey population to take hold.

hand load i load custom loads for my rifles a custom if you want to drive tacks 1/4 inch groups or better at 200 + yards . on the wssm you cant gain anything by hand loading for it you cant improve on it like a plain old 25-06

I would bet that the bobcats and fire ants are having alot to do with the turkey problem, also. As far as coyotes, we have them around her. They are mainly scavengers. They will choose to hunt the field rats, rabbits and other smaller animals. They make take a yearling that is sick or left behind that is, if mama gives up on it. I have seen many mama doe fend off yotes from her yearlings.
