Season starts August 15 here in Western Ontario. All baits are wiped out daily & looks to be one of the best seasons ever!!! The mosqutoes are horrendous along with the horse flys. Tons of blueberries but apparently they like the bait just as well. Hope every bear hunter on this site has a the best bear hunt ever, no matter where you hunt!!!

Been going out with guys for a few weeks here training dogs. We have treed several, had 3 going at the same time yesterday. I've got no intention of killing one, but I've got a kid I've been bringing that will probably get a chance.

When does Maines Bear season open??

Bait sitters can start Aug 30th till sept 25th and dogs run from sept 13th till oct 29th. My cousin lost a dog yesterday, it's collars got caught on a stick when it was swiming a beaver flowage chasing a bear, drowned before he could get to it.

How does the hunt look for this fall in Maine? Is there a good crop of bears to be harvested?

Allways is, lots of berries and acorns in the woods, the bait sitters might have a rough time at first.
