This is one thing I'm not familiar with since I'm still a greenhorn. I have a Marlin 336w 30-30 lever, unscoped, that I will be hunting with. What would be my best bet on ammo for whitetail. Not sure what grain and should I buy something besides just run of the mill?
I have a 30-30 and I use 170 grain hollow points. They aren't as flat shooting as the 150s but they have more knock down power. I shot a nice 8 at 110 yards with mine and dropped him in his tracks. Just be carefull I have heard that the new ballistic tips don't shoot well with the 30-30. One of the gun shops by me waspushing them then stopped because of it.
i have a model 94. i have never shot them, but i have heard great thing about the hornady LEVERevolutions. i have always shot remington 170s, but thats just for hogs.
