700 or A-bolt

Postby Acer » Fri Nov 25, 2005 11:27 am

Hi All,

I am a rifle newbie but I plan on buying one soon to get familar with it before the next hunting season. I plan on getting a .308 Win rifle but I am having a hard time deciding between a Remington 700 Titanium and a Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker. The price difference is ~$100 at my local gun store.

The Remington is 5.25 pounds and the Browning is 6.25 pounds. I plan on getting a Sims Limbsaver pad, a scope (~1 pound), and using managed recoil ammunition at first.

Which rifle would be better?

Cheers!

You can't go wrong either way, just depends on what you want. Have you checked out the Remington 700 XCR with trinyte finish. Supposed to be completely rustproof. May not be as light though.
