7mm Rem Mag Rifle Scope. Whitetail-moose from 50-300+ yards

Postby matt_3479 » Sun Oct 25, 2009 7:11 pm

I was in the middle of buying a scope for my 7mm rem mag, and i was strongly leaning towards the Nikon Monarch 3-12, 42mm with BDC reticle. I also looked at the Bushnell 6500. I just recently saw the Leupold VX-III 3.5-10x- 40mm with CDS and was really impressed plus the reputation of Leupold helps my decision and i think thats what im going to go with. What do you think??

I dont think you would go wrong with any of the 3. The Nikon ProStaff is a little more affordable and I think it is just as good as the Monarch. I sell Nikons mostly and think that the quality and clarity are there. I bought my first Leupold 2 years ago and am glad I did. As long as there is 1/2 a moon or more, I can see at night(no, I am not hunting).
Curiosity killed the cat, but I was a suspect for a while......

Can't go wrong with Leupold, I have 3 and am in the process of upgrading some of the other scopes I have when I can afford to.

I just got a Leupold Rifleman for 240 bucks I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Its 4-12 power I would think that would be pretty good for a moose at 300 yards. Oh ya and lifetime warranty.

I agree that any one will be just fine. It's actually pretty hard to buy a bad scope these days - not like in the past.

Leupold, Nikon, B&L - they all work fine. If your 7 Mag is your go-to gun, I'd spend the extra bucks on a premium line, whatever the brand. My go-to .300 Weatherby has worn a Swarovsky 2.5x10 for 25 years. Never a problem. but never a problem with my Leupolds or Nikons, either.

I have a Leupold VXIII 3.5X10 30MM Tube Illuminated Reticle 50MM Objective on my Remington 700 CDL in 7 MM Remington Mag. And it makes a great combination. I am definitely partial to the 30MM Tube Scopes. If you have never used one take a look through one.

All of my scopes are Luepold. They are tough and stay on target through almost anything. Ive had one on an 870 for 8 years now and although i check it every year ive never had to readjust it. I have one on a 30-06, the 870, had a 44 mag handgun, .223 mauser, and a tikka 25-06. I swear by them, and they seem to gather the light better than others ive seen or had.
