My anchor point puts my thumb under my jaw and the tip of the knuckle of my index finger at the edge of my mouth. So no, a turtle neck would not affect me. I think this is gona depend on where your anchor point is.

It doesnt bother mine either. I anchor with the first knuckle of my index finger on my ear and the tip of my nose on the string.

I still use bear fur finger tabs so it doesn't bother me either. :D

Switched from a recurve to PSE Nova about 6 years ago.

I had a pse nova, pretty decent inexpensive bow. But i shoot a hoyt now. I was just wondering because most people use a release for compound bows. I was thinking about getting into recurve hunting though.

I would try and shoot the bow a few times with them on and see how it feels. Also wear your gloves to try and simulate what you would be wearing in the field.

I can't stand trigger releases, they make it too much like a gun in my opinion. I'm sure you can adjust the sensativity but I tried one and thought it to be too sensative. Even for my rifles I like a hard trigger pull. But not only that, I don't understand the need for them when finger tabs are just as good. I shoot just as accurate. To each his own I guess.

On long axle compound bows you can use fingertabs but on short axle to axle compound bows you really just about have to use a mechanical release.

I have a release that i normally use but I shoot fingers in practice also, just in case I go hunting and discover that I left my release at home or back in the truck while i'm up in a tree.

You can use fingers with any bow(no crossbows, of course), its just more comfortable with a long axle to axle bow. The short axle to axle has a tendency to pinch your fingers with the arrow. Its due to the steeper angle of the string on the short axle to axle bows.

Yep, pinching your fingers in the string and against the arrow nock is why I said that, it isn't the nicest feeling in the world especially if you go ahead and fire the bow, I didn't fully explain but yes thats why I said a release is just about a must use on a short axle bow. LOL

I don't use finger tabs and if you ever hold that draw for any time and your finger tips start swelling it can make a saint come up with some curse words.

That's true, the PSE Nova, which I use, is a long axle bow so it may be easier. I have however pulled my friend's bow back with my finger tab and didn't have much of a problem. But either way I don't see myself switching to a trigger release.
