A quick run

Postby AussieHog » Fri Feb 22, 2008 2:26 am

I went for a quick look with the dogs a couple of weeks ago and managed to pick up three decent pigs in less than an hour. That cold room is about 7 feet high, to give you some idea of size. There's about $200 hanging there!Image

Congrats on the three (not so little) pigs. Was there alot of huffing and puffing involved?

I've never been hog hunting, we don't have them around here. But I bet those things must be delicious!

Also, why are the liver and lungs hanging out? Do you keep those? And you mentioned $200.00. Is there a bounty on hogs, or do you sell them? Around here, it is illegal to sell game harvested under a hunting or fishing liscense.

Thanks mate, Yeah they aren't bad eating if you can get a small one that is still on the sow or living on good clean feed. The bigger they get the ranker the meat becomes but some people like that. As for the money, we sell pigs by weight ($1.00 per kilo usualy) to overseas game meat exporters who ship it of to european countrys. The money's realy only a bonus when you enjoy the hunt. The heart, liver, lungs and kidneys are left in to be tested for diseases.

What caliber of gun did you use to kill these Hogs with? Wish I had a place to shoot some of those hogs, it would be a blast!

Looks like a great time was had. Wish we could sell the meat.

No gun, just two dogs and a knife.

Are you kidding me? No gun? Your dogs take them out? Man, you guys run pretty wild down under! Five shots in the shotgun, and you can shoot from a moving vehicle!

Are you sure you're playing by the rules down there mate?
