Acuracy Nuts!

Postby VD » Mon Jan 26, 2009 11:27 am

I am one of those guys that always has to be playing with guns and just finnished a project that turned out great and thouht some of you might want to giver a go- I had a Savage 210f that shot good with a couple diferent brands of sabots and as in my area we are required to use slugs for deer and the guy with the most acurate gun is the coolest, and who dosnt want to be cool. I used the factory stock but if I had more leway with my wife i would have bought the Mcmillian after market job with the monte carlo stock- anyhow I opened up the barrel channel to freefloat the barrel and added 2 dead mule recoil reducers to the but  stock - thair is some sort of foam in thair and I just dug it out with screw drivers - acraglassed them in on oposing angles my idea is if you shot from tree stands you would have one that was in the propper position-DO NOT fill the but stock up with glass in one step it will ruin the savage stock this stuff gets HOT I learned this previosly the hard way do it in five steps- you will notice that now your gun is to heavy in the back- I glued with acraglass 32 cal bullets in the fore arm till the balance felt right be shur not to come in contact with the barrel- I then compleatly filled all open pockets inside with glass again if it looks like a large area use a coulple of coats- then glass bed barrel and action as per Product directions- at this point you could stop and would more than likely have considerable gains- I went a few steps further since I believe the savage barrels are a bit ruff and I lapped the bore- I now am the proud parent of a sub moa slug gun - I think and I was guilty of it my self that people treat slug guns like shot guns and dont expect rifle like behavior but they can produce if they are treated like the rifles they are. Note this makes a very heavy gun that is no fun to carry but a joy to shoot- 3 inch seem to shoot better than 2 3/4 out of mine- To date hastings lazer , federal vitalshock and winchester BRI are the best I can find for this gun. I hope this helps and it gives you somthing to do in the off season. VD
