Another neat trick to fool the deer

Postby Antler3 » Thu Nov 11, 2004 4:12 pm

Set up your ground blind during the summer. Place a dummy hunter in stand. The deer will get used to this after awhile...then come season replace the dummy with yourself.

I heard that you can get an old soccerball and attatch it to a rope and hang it in the stand so the wind can blow it around, the deer get used to seeing that movement in the stand.

i have never gone to the extent of placing a real dummy in the stand. but in wisconsin we are required to wear blaze orange. a few weeks before season starts we like to hang a blaze orange jacket in out stands.
1. it gets used to them seeing something in the stand.
2. it moves in the wind.
3. its nice to have out there on the days when you miss judge how cold it is but now you have an extra layer to put on!
