I took an archery doe Sunday evening in Pike co. I doubt theres a heavier hunted county in the state. Last few years the majority of my bow kills have been after the shotgun weekends. Hunt smarter, food sources are key. If you can get onto land that the pumpkin army hasnt stomped out then your ahead of the game already. State/public ground that was closed to gunhunting or had limited access is good too. A few bucks will still be trying to rut but most will be trying to regain lost weight. We try to establish and keep at least one sanctuary on each property we hunt. That helps too. We're having a warming spell right now, its 45 at 9am. Most normal years its pretty cold hunting so shoot your bow with the extra clothes, gloves etc. If you are after a buck and dont mind cold long sits a scrape line can produce this time of year. Might be at 7am or noon or 3pm.
