I didn't know that there was a NY forum on this site so I thought it'd be best to post my question here.
This year I plan to take my son upstate NY to go deer hunting. My wife and I had gotten a divorce and finally after almost two years of paying lawyer fees I have finally gotten my visitation schedule. I know I shouldn't be airing out my dirty laundry here but I am really excited about this and can't wait to finally go away with him. My son is very excited himself. I've hunted deer in the past as a kid but it's been a while and I am wondering if any of you pros will be so kind as to share a good location to hunt preferably deer or other big game in NY. We live in Long Island and plan to hunt with a rifle. I am willing to travel up to 3-4 hours upstate NY from here. Any nice places guys to stay at and/or hunt? I need to renew my license, but do I need any permits or anything to hunt at your recommended places? Thank you in advance and Happy Holidays.
