bad experience

Postby slappy » Sat Nov 19, 2005 7:42 pm

went out bowhunting this evening and shot one. I seen it go down so I went to it to dress it out. I wasn't ready for what I saw. This deer was wasting away to nothing, the backbone ridge was about 1 1/2 inches raised and all the ribs were protruding. The deer had an awful odor and you could see where it was defacating all over itself. I left it where it was deep in the brush. I didn't want to touch it and there is no way I'll eat it or let anyone else eat it. I've been hunting deer in this area for years and all the deer I've ever harvested have been very healthy animals.I'm sure this deer was suffering from something, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Yea. CWD is my guess too. I went to the Maryland DNR website and it said that they havent found CWD in the state yet, but its not impossible.

Here is a link to their CWD web page. http://www.dnr.state.md.us/huntersguide/chronic.asp

Here is another link about CWD: http://www.cwd-info.org/

Could be alot of things. From CWD to having an acorn not digest and rot the stomach, something that happens with cows. It could even be coxcitiouses* from eating off the ground but, there would be blood coming out tha behind!

As they suggested, I would report it!
