Ruger 96/44 lever action, Leupold 1.25-4x20, .44 Rem Mag, 320gr cast bullet reloads, Sighted in at 50yds, bullet holes touching.

Its a light weight rifle and I can carry it all day and not be wore out at the end of a long hunt.

We have been using the 6.8x43 with Barnes bullets in AR15s with nightvision equipt. The Barnes 85 or 110gr TSX will penetrate from corner to corner of large hogs.

I paid right at $430 for the rifle and cheap scope combo(used). I then spent another $430 on the Leupold scope and the scope rings cost $60. I absolutely LOVE that scope. It is crystal clear, bright, and holds its zero even though it bounces around in the back floorboard. I tell everyone its my "truck gun".

I have shot them with a variety of calibers from 223, up to 7 MM Rem Mag. All did a good job and I try to always hit them behind the ear. They normally drop like a rock! So about any respectable caliber will work. Obviously it also depends on distance. In Texas we can get some decent long shots.
