Black Bear Hunting

Postby Antler3 » Thu Nov 04, 2004 7:49 pm

While deer scouting earlier in the year found some black bear sign. Was flipped over rocks like he had just went through feeding. We have few black bear around. I've never hunted them. The bear season here is open the same time our deer season opens. If he happens through while I'm in the deer woods maybe will get a shot at him. Good hunting!

guided bear hunts

Postby ken luopa » Mon Dec 27, 2004 6:33 pm

I would like info from kn. bear hunters who have gone or are thinking of going on a bear hunt in ontario canada. what do you expect from your hunt (a big bear is obvious). If you have hunted bear, what was good what was bad and what would you like. Feel free to be honest and remember nothing is to small or unimportant as it is you doing the hunting. How many stands, how long a shot do you want? Do want road access or by water. I am compiling stats and needs of bear hunters both bow and gun.Let it fly any and all ideas will be colated. First time hunters what have you been told to expect and what do you expect. How much do you want to spend for 1week, do you also want fishing for all species. I will reply, im on vac. now but will check you can send me your email.I am very interested in horror stories about the hunt from h-ll.

Black Bear

Postby jbarsness » Sun Jun 05, 2005 6:00 pm

This is going to be my first bear hunt at my property in western Wisconsin. I put out corn behind my cabin for the deer and 2 weeks ago i had a monster come out and feed in the middle of the day. I am guessing it is a male probably about 40 to 45 inches at the shoulder.

dont pack a bag of trail mix under the seat of four-wheeler while turkey hunting....black bear might rip the stuffing outta the seat while ur gone(like he did mine) lol
a kill isnt what makes the hunt successful, but it sure helps

I have been told to use sweats and i happen to have a Tastee factory down the street from me. I was also told to put out used grease so any other trips or tricks would be helpful.

Bear hunting

Postby pete.decoto » Tue Apr 03, 2007 4:28 pm

Hello!
I just signed up for the forum today.
I had some deer hunting questions.
I'm from Ontario and I've hunted Bear since I was 15.
I only bow hunt now and use bait sites. I take my Bear every year.
My wife started hunting last fall and got her first Bear the second night out with a bow.
If anyone has any specific questions, I would be happy to help.

the size at the shoulder really wont matter much. im thinking that since hes coming in the middle of the day hes not as big as you think.
that doesnt mean its impossible. but most big bears arent that stupid. there are exceptions tho.
what does his head like, are his ears small or large because a bear will grow his head but his ears stay the same from birth. usually you can judge a bear from that.

Lay a 6 foot log next to your pile. This will give you a pretty good idea on size. Anything under 6 feet will not be as heavy as you think he looks.
As bur huntin stated look at their ears if their ears really stick out it's a smaller bear.

The ears are a great tip and probably the most tell tale sign that i know of for a big bear. Also a big bears belly is a lot clser to the ground. Those young bears will look tall coming in but thats decieving.Bears are probably the most notorious for ground shrinkage.

A big bear will have seemingly small round ears that are far apart and the eyes will appear small and close together. Also the nose will look short but thick.

blow gun hunting

Postby parmeet » Tue Dec 15, 2009 5:30 am

Making sure you purchase a hunting blow guns that is right for you is just as important as remembering to renew your hunting

license. Here are a few tips to help you might the right selection.

First, it is important to try on the hunting blow guns. Most people to get this, but they leave out one important thing. If

you are planning on wearing the hunting blow guns with thick thermal socks, make sure you are wearing the socks when you slip

on a hunting blow guns that has caught your eye. Hunting is not something one does for an hour or so and then calls it a day.

You want to make sure that any hunting blow guns you pick is going to provide a comfortable fit for many hours at a time.

Next, how is the construction of the hunting blow guns? Depending on the weather conditions, there may be some various in

just exactly what you need in a hunting blow guns. If your hunting is going to take you mainly through rough but dry terrain,

then you can be less concerned about how water tight the hunting blow guns happens to be. On the other hand, hunting in

marshes, swamps and other areas where water is plentiful demands that you have a hunting blow guns that is going to keep your

feet dry.

If you enjoy diverse types of hunting, you may want to keep a hunting

blow gun set for various kinds of hunting. As

an example, you would have a hunting blow guns set for deer hunting, where you would be mainly on dry land, and a separate

hunting blow guns set for hunting duck or other water fowl.

Last, what type of upkeep will be required to keep the hunting blow guns is usable condition? Here, the type of material may

come into play. As an example, certain materials would be very hard to maintain if you are going to be dredging through a lot

of water or mud. Make sure you understand what you are getting into with upkeep before you buy anything. There is no point in

wasting money on something you will use one time and then have to discard, simply because you do not have the time or

inclination to care for the hunting blow guns set properly.

Obtaining the right hunting blow guns is not difficult. By following a few simple guidelines you can purchase a hunting blow

guns that will last for several years.Image

Hi,

Summer is a time when hunters hone their archery skills and try to outdo their shooting performance from last year. It is an ideal time to tweak, tick, and twiddle with new gear or accessories. The summer drags most archers into their front yard or local shooting range to plunk away on bag, block, or 3D targets. I’ve learned that it is crucial to your practice regimen that you invest efforts into piercing arrows in the correct target at the correct time.
