by now youve already shot the gun and you may have found out that your gun shot off even though your cross hairs were dead center on the grid marks most boresighters get you on paper and thats it . some of the laser sighters are very reliable and offer a referance card for each gun you have so you can check zero without shooting your gun. i have a BSA borsighter and when my gun is zeroed in at 100 yards by shooting and checking zero my cross hairs are all the way on the right side of the grid and two block grids down in my borsighter. when i first boresighted it in i sighted my cross hairs dead center of the grid up, down, left, right when i shot it at my range i was 3 feet off and low it has somthing to do with the way the guns are drilled and tapped for mounts and the highth of the mounts and rings play a factor in it as well , a good scope has enuff adjustment to take up a lot of the windage(left, right)and yardage(up,down) that it lacks to be zeroed in ,they make scope bushings that take up space to raise or lower a scope or move it left or right without having to move your adjustments on your scope and lose what they call the optical center of your scope .
leupold makes windage adjustable scope bases that lets you keep your optical center of your scope they claim if you keep your scope opticaly centered it is clearer and sharper at longer distance and theres not too much strain on the cross hairs and they stand up to heavier recoil.
well i hope this helps and i hope your gun drives tacks :)

I sure hope i'm not off by three feet with that new bore sighter just in case i'll take my first shot at 25 yds and work out from there.By the way just to say I hunted Buffalo Coal ground with a friend of mine took 1 spring bird19# 10" beard that is some beautiful country up around davis and thomas W.V. I made out real good with that leupold magnetic boresighter the worst gun was my rem. 700 leupold 3x9 x40varixII which has a lot to do with the way i mounted the scope and it was only 10 or12 inches high at 100 yds and about 6" right the T C black diamond was 0" windage and 4" high at 50 yds which was real easy to bring in the 30-30 bolt was about 10" high and 3" left which came in real easy also I thinh leupold has a real winner with that new magnetic mount boresighter and it's a cinch to chk. in the field

Just sighted in my 7mm without a boresighter. I removed the bolt and centered the barrel on the target at 50 yds by looking down the barrel and then lifted my head to look thru the scope. I made adjustments to the scope to match the view thru the barrel.
First shot at 50 yds was 5" high with windage at 4" left.
Second shot at 50 yds was 1.5" high with windage at 1" left
Third-Fourth-Fifth-Sixth 1.75" group.
This was closer than the 3 feet off that I had when I had Gander Mountain
bore sight my 22-250.(about $20.00 if I remember right)
If anyone is wanting to sight in a bolt action or a single shot I'd try this method first.
Hey looser,pick-up yer trash...yer mommy aint out here!!
