Since it is so much warmer here, also but, not like where cynic is, ours is maybe a week ahead of his. It seems that more times than not it will corrispond with the first hard frost, here.

How close does your rut end to the shortest day of the year for your area? :? Mine is pretty much on the money!

Same arguements go for the spawning of fish. Some swear by the moon phases but, fish don't all spawn at the same time. It is due to the water temperature being right to support the eggs. A good rain will decrease water temperature and stall a spawn everytime!

Just saw a couple yearlings grazing my clover field the oyher day,
they were still spoted, but verey healthy looking!
I agree "cynic" the does will do the same here when theres a temp
change, that can put a small twist in hunting. I will then hunt low
"water holes"

Crops are more speratic than anything! There is some corn and soybean but, no rain and everything has burnt up! Bout all we have is the food plots that we do! There are alot of cattle pastures where they get some grass to graze! Louisiana is very flat and mainly alot of pine plantations. Makes for some very thick and up personal hunting! There is alot of natural browse so you have to plan on locating that first. Hickory nuts are starting to fall but, thats about it. Not alot of minerals in this ol iron ore ground we have either. Yea, we have a lot of deer! normally here at my place, we see herds daily!
