I've been told about buying customs strings. Can anyone shed some light on the subject.

I would say that for me it depends on whether we are talking about custom strings made by a company to a specification or if they are made in someones home by Jimmy Joe Bob as a hobby.

It probably comes to the point of whether you feel that you can trust them not to come apart and blow your bow up in your face, someone that makes them at their home in their garage or basement I would be very leery of but maybe thats just me.

I always have bought strings at my bow shop.

Nothing personnal against any 'Jimmy Joe Bob's' that we have here that make bow strings in their garage or basement. LOL

It depends on the company, but there are some decent custom string makers. If it were my decision, I would stick with Winners Choice. They will twist any colors you want together and the string is the best on the market. With alot of the custom string makers, they dont have the same process as Winner Choice does and the strings wear out faster. You will then have to turn around and buy another string, where if you chose the WC, you will get several years of service out of it. If you dont shoot that often and want a custom string, go for it. If you shoot alot, then go with the Winners Choice because it is the best string on the market.
Curiosity killed the cat, but I was a suspect for a while......
