start out around 70 grains of powder with your bullet choice and work up in 5 grain loads tell you find the one that works best.

I have always just loaded the thing up with what I am going to hunt with and start shooting, putting a patch down the barrel about every 3rd shot.
Want my ammo?Ok,stand downrange.

I just useda Traditions XLT Break Open for the first time and used 100 grain and 150 grains of American Pioneer pellets with excellent results and never cleaned between the rounds .
All of the rounds at 50 and 100 yards went within 3 inches of the target.
Reached home and poured hot water and barrel is clean after just couple of patches.

I just joined this site so I am sure you have already seen the post of Bushie Jackman dated Aug 31st titled "DANGEROUS MUZZLE LOADERS" If not, you may want to give it a good read since the throw Winchester into the mix too. If not just be carefull and be sure to take your cell phone with you!

dangerous muzzleloaders was wrote up by that bafoon Randy Wakeman who doesnt know his rear end from a hole in the ground.

He lacks to tell you that he is referring to the 1995-1996 cva apollo inlines that were leaked out and stole with bad breech plugs. BPI bought cva in 98 i believe and they have upgraded big time.

The new CVA Accura they have out now, Takes 600 GRAINS of triple 7 and THREE 444 grain powerbelt bullets to blow the barrel!
