I have been going up there behind the gate the past few weeks in the c8000 area and have seen lots of does and a few 1points but that is it. I have not hunted in 20 years so this is like starting over. Me and my dad want to start hunting again. What area is good up there for something with a little more meat?

CWB, don't know about down there, but up here there's distinct genetic distribuitions, it seems. Certain drainages will have some real good genes, where all the rest of the area has really dwarf genes. A 4 year old buck will have nice stout forks, for instance. Antlers are rare and very localized. I've seen 6 year old 140 class bucks, but they're hens teeth.
