Broadheads

Postby Run'n'Gun » Wed Sep 24, 2008 2:06 pm

Hey Doug,

Well my father, uncles and cousins have been using the crossbow for as long as I can remember and about 5 years back I purchased one myself and got into the game. I own a Barnett RC 300 and my dad shoots Crissbow. My unles and cousins have moved up to the Excaliburs Exomax.

As far as broadheads everyone here uses these:
Admin Edit: Link Removed, try posting apicture of it next time.

They do a very effective job on whitetails and with good shot placement you wont be walking far. When the blades expand on contact they punch a hole 2 inches or better and usually go clean through. Easy tracking and big blood trails make for dead deer and happy hunters. :D.

Try'em out, I think you'll like'em. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Sorry about that, i'm still getting a hang of the rules for posting links here. Anyways, the broadheads we use are Shockwaves. They are a three blade mechanical head.

Thanks for the info ...... i bought a "Ten Point Lazor" wow can't believe how consistent it shoots..... 30 and 40 yards it's dead on.... i picked up some hyper shock broadheads... took the field points off and put the broadheads on to see if it changed the flight at all......at 30 and 40 yards they are dead on just as if i hadn't change from the field points... haven't tried it at a longer distance...40 yards is about my max range in the woods.. can't wait to till oct 1st....

I used to hunt with a handicapped man that used a Ten Point xbow and he swore by Thunderheads. I still use them today. My reason for not using mech heads is if the shot is not a pass through then those blades that are still in the cavity could nick an artery or continue to do damge internally and take the deer down. I have seen a few deer shot with mechheads and that arrow backed out of them so easy. Just my thoughts
