crossbows in NY

Postby trofeebuck » Fri Oct 07, 2005 9:27 pm

hi everybody, New hear tonight right now im at work. I work for the turning stone casino resort, i work in the IT dept. fixing gaming machines. What i want to know is why it is so hard for the law makers to make a desission on crossbows in NY. Ive been hunting for a long long time and i love it. my favorite is bow hunting but i do it all from bow hunting to muzzloading to rifle I bear and deer hunt in NY, the law says that a primitive weapon must be used in bow season or muzzloading season. What i dont understand is the crossbow was invented way before black powder so wouldnt that constitute a primitive weapon? What would enebling peaple to use this primitive weapon hurt? I mean it would generate revenue with sales of licensing and weapons and epuiptment right. so i think it would be a win win situation. The consurns peaple have is that its taking away from "bow hunting" from limiting the bow hunting season, they think that the law makers will cut the bow hunting from 2 weeks to 1 week and then let crossbow hunters have at it. well it think it should be up to the hunters wich weapon they use, if some hunters dont like crossbows who said they had to use them? just some thought on the subject. hope to hear from you all later.

crossbow

how bout this one, it will never happen due to the fact most people are not happy when you shoot a deer- shorten both bow and gun season by the same amount of time-add a new season crossbow/primitive muzzleloader and primitive is wood stocks flintlocks patched round ball you get the idea- of course it would fall right during the rut in the southern zone- this would be fair ? I think so about time all the guys who like flint and steel do not have to compete with us inline far shooters I would be the first to buy a flintlock and buy a tag $$$ DEC get the drift-gun companys sell some guns - we wont be heard or can we fight the NYSbow asoc. but they can- I also love bow hunting the most and I also hunt with any impiment I can for as many days or months as I can but on this issue why cant we come together or at least let the old hurt and young use the dang things during bow season. BECAUSE if you do not get to hunt others might shoot a pope and young buck. hope you shot the deer you wanted and they all taste as good as mine do . VD
