CVA Optima

Postby Rusty » Sat Feb 05, 2005 10:53 am

I am concidering buying a CVA Optima or the Kodiak. I currently own a Firebolt and have had great success with it. I don't know anyone who has used a "break-open" action or the "pivot-block" action. Does anyone have any experience with these two ML tha can give me some help.

Thanks

I own a CVA optima pro w/ the fluted barrel and just love it...it is the first black powder that i've owned but it makes it soooo simple to clean it just break it open and remove the breech plug for straight thru cleaning. It has been super reliable and accurate. I didn't know anything going into blackpowder but after talking to several people they convinced me to buy this gun and i don't regret it one bit I sure bet you would love it also.

If you do a lot of black powder hunting i would consider it but mine is blued also because i didn't think it was worth the extra money for the nickle since i just use it one season a year/

i have an optima pro hardwoods and blued, i love it . in fact i just recieved a 45 cal barrel for it, so now i can shoot ethier 45 or 50 cal by just changing barrels. the 50 is a real deer buster. i shoot 3 pellets and a 185 grain powerbelt. very very accurate.

yeah my dad has a CVA optima blued and does good with it and only uses one block of powder. he found that under 100 yards it is more accurate with only 1. of course it looses knock down power but if you can shoot good you should have nothing to worry about with less power
