Hey jerren,
Looks like not many people responded to your asking. But here's some places to start... Anywhere from the gun range off 173 where the pavement ends to the bottom of 173 where the spill way can be found. just drive and stop and glass the canyons, shots are anywhere from 60yrds. on out to 600 yrds. The road is a little rocky and can be somewhat narrow, so go slow and park in the turnouts, many people hunt there on the week ends so during the week is always best. Or try willow creeck jeep trail which is 3n34 just north of the gun range off 173, take it across to sqiunts ranch road, it loops around back to hook creek road and comes out at Cedar Glen. You can hunt all the way across to the burned area around Rouse meadows. You will need a 4x4 to do so, it's kinda bumpy. You can also try parking at the gun range and walking back to the pinnacles just west of the range, it's not far at all and you can see a good distance. That right there is alot of area to cover, but you can also go down around hesperia along the hills as well. I would suggest getting a 7.5 minute topo map of "Lake Arrowhead" for finding your way around and watch out for mountain lions they are around. This year deer number sightings have been relatively low but there around you just got to put in your time. Good Luck!
