At 2:00 PM opening day this big boy ran right to me! It's a blacktail and he has massive horns.

Anyone else hunt D5?

Nice! A blacktail in D-5? I didn't even know they had them there. I normally hun D-6, but I will occasionally get a tag for D-5, even though I don't know the area well. I don't want you to give up your secret spot or anything, but can you say which area? Highland lake. Just a shot (I'm sure there are no blacktail there, but I hear of a lot of deer taken there)

I hunt around ice-house reservoir in D-5. I have only seen a spike here during the day and a Fork n' horn at night. you have any suggestions on where to hunt? I'm looking to get my first deer.

Nice buck! Congrats! I just moved from Seattle Wa to Redondo Beach Ca last year to care for my elderly parents. Been hunting for over 25 years and hoping to hunt the local area mountain ranges and share some campfires while making some new friends. Got a nice 4-point blacktail in 2009 near Mt. Rainier in WA State and hope I can have some success here. Anyone need a hunting buddy, spotter, extra body around to help out, please let me know.
