Fellas I am not sure what times your bow sason comes in but here in delawar it is september 1'st. A couple of more months and it's time to settle the pin on that big buck in velvet. I have been practcing. I have tried for years to kill a deer worthy of the taxedermist in full velvet. I killed a nice 9pt one tome but whenhe fell he took the velvet with him. I have been lucky and have killed a buck in velvet almost every year for the last 5 years. Just none I wanted to mount. I am at my point of no return now. Practice, practice, practice everyday intil the end of september. Even if it means shooting one arrow out of my back door. I hang my bow in the mud room by the washer and dryer, close to the deer. Every time I have a minute I will let one fly at the old mackenzie buck. I was quite proud of myself today, I shot a starling with the bow at 25yds. I am gonna get some different tips for small game hunting. The carbons are expensive.

Thats what I need to get. I end up using feild tips. They go right through and get lost. I did shoot a starling at 30+ yards the other day. I was tickled.

Hi folks,

I used to use old broadheads on blackbirds in the garden. They got pretty dull pretty fast. One bird jumped the string and lost both legs, I sort of felt bad- I suppose it flew till it died, no way to land.

I lived in a small town and quit using the broadheads and went to a homemade spring device when an arrow hit a rock and took off straight up in the air. I never did find it. I must have come down on some tourists car and left the county. Sure wish I hadn't put my name on my arrows.

Anyway, take an old brake spring from a drum brake set up, heat the middle until you can turn a reverse loop, cool fast, clip the ends and put it under your field tip. It'll take down any bird you can hit.
