Deer Behavior

Postby wtquickdraw » Sat Nov 13, 2010 3:37 pm

I have noticed over the course of the summer and early fall that Whitetail Deer will not pass under the pivot irrigation system in the surrouding fields in lower Michigan. I am curious to see if anyone else has noticed this behvaior in any other areas. I have done research to determine the cause of this behavior but I am unsuccessful in finding any answers. Could anyone tell me if they have noticed this same behavior and why they are reluctant to pass under the pivot irrigation system?

It has probably scared them at one point or another if it turned on while they were nearby or under it. Mature deer especially. It's said that if you shoot at a mature deer from a tree and miss and the deer sees you, any time it returns to that tree, it remembers the shot and will look up in the tree.
