deer feeders

Just wondering if deer feeders work and how long do you leave them out there if no deer is hitting them?

I have had good luck with deer feeders. Are you using an on time feeder?
It takes time with the on time feeders or feeders that spread feed at a given time. I think the deer are spooked by the sound of them at first but eventually train themselves to come out when the feeder comes on. Kinda like our dinner bell.

also I suggest a deer camera. Then you know for sure whats going on as far as how the deer are reacting to the feeder.

Ive got 200 lb capacity american deer feeder that throw the corn out. Is that what you use? I seen some of those stump feeders with openings at the bottom.I wonder if those are any good?

I havent tried the stump feeder. I use On Time feeders. There about the same. If you arent getting any pictures try spreading your feed on the ground... I always seem to get a lot more pictures if I spread on the ground rather than at my on time feeders for some reason.

I USE TO HUNT ON THIS LAND BUT FOR SO REASON THEY QUIT COMING BY. I DONT KNOW IF IT WAS CAUSED BY THE DROUGHT OR WHAT, BUT HAD ALOT OF PICTURES, THEN THEY JUST STOP. THE LAND OWNER THAT IS NEXT TO THE LAND THAT THE FEEDER IS ON GETS PICTURES ALL THE TIME. I MIGHT HAVE TO GET SOME APPLES OR SOME PEANUT BUTTER AND PUT OUT, SO THEY CAN SMELL IT. IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING THAT MIGHT WORK PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

I just bought a new house out in peachland nc. I have been seeing lots of deer in the fields lately. mainly hay fields for whatever reason. I had 32 deer saturday night in my pasture grazing. I dont think the drought has a whole lot to do with it as of right now. I am sure yall have been getting lot of rain lately like us. Apples should pull them in pretty quick but I dont understand why they would just leave. How much time do you spend in the woods? Has there been any signifigant land changes lately? wood harvesting, etc.

Because spring brings new growth. Those tender shoots are the best eating. Once the grass gets a little bigger it is less tasty.

they use to plant soybeans in the field beside where i hunt but, they planted corn instead. thats the all change that has been done. the only time i go in the woods is to put corn in the feeder or check the camera. Ive got tracks about 40 yards away but not at the feeder. Ive got 246 pic. in one day, but they act like they are scared of something or something not wright. This happen before I got the feeder.

Who wants to pay hundreds of dollars for a deer feeder? you spend enough $ putting the money on the stuff that goes in it.

Don't be lazy, get plenty of timber, and assemble one yourself. Get out in the woods, and fill the feeder up yourself, and you will find yourself in the nature a lot more..
