How long do deer stay in heat and what is the gestation time for them?

A doe will generally stay in heat for 24 to 48 hours, although she will be considered "hot" to bucks 2 to 3 days before that. That's why bucks trail does. Waiting for the does to be cordial. I think we all know what that's like.
Gestation for does is around 6 or 7 months.

gestation

My understanding of gestation for deer is 200 days and that you can pretty much set your clock by it. Last year I saw what appeared to be a newborn fawn, from that day I counted back 200 days and it coincided with the primary rut in my area (upstate NY)
