Do You Need a Place to Hunt?

Postby KeepItReal » Tue Sep 04, 2007 9:55 pm

TRUSTING PEOPLE IS NOT AN EASY THING TO DO OR ACCEPT READILY....REMEMBER THIS AD (3rd PARAGRAPH) THAT I HAD ON HERE A FEW YEARS AGO. The reason for this ad was to allow someone (or two), who felt that if they live within a few hours away; that they would be able to check on my property; and also, be able to hunt on it. As well, they would be able to spend some time or visit it enough that they could keep an eye on it; and keep it up with some normal maintenance (Now, read the following paragraph).

READ THIS PORTION CAREFULLY!!!, SO YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHY I STOPPED ANY MORE PERSONS FROM HUNTING ON MY LAND !!!!....THIS TRUST HAS BEEN BETRAYED....I selected 2 persons at that time. Well, it turns out they never went out to my property after the hunting season was over. And, for the very least to drive through to the property, periodically; and for them to make a simple visual check on my land. During the absence of the 2 persons; some person(s) broke into my place and vandalized it; and stole everything inside and ripped the aluminum siding of the hunting trailer. It was totally demolished. It cost me an enormous amount of money and time to replace the exsiting building. Yes, I was extremely furious disappointed; and still am.This is why I have second thought on let anyone hunt on my property, anymore. Sure, everyone wants to hunt on it. But, can they help maintain it; and keep an eye on it. I have mis-givings on letting anyone on my property, anymore.

I have 100 acres surrounded by 100,000 acres of timberland, west of Richmond. Looking for 2 or 3 responsible Hunters with some handyman experience; but, not necessary to complete a total of 5 Hunters. I have a building on property for sleeping, gathering, etc. It needs tender loving care. I use to live in Northern Virginia. Now, I live in Florida and go a back a number of times a year. I have great neighbors in that area; and a friend in the Wash.,DC area that looks over my place. If you interested, post a note and how to reach you. I can show you pictures of what has come out of there thru the years. This is one of the most beautiful places in VA.; and I have had it for 22 yrs. You will receive a key for the gate and a key for the building. You will be allow on the property year round. If you meet my terms. And they are simple. I won't make a decision for a few weeks to give all of you a chance to respond. This a great chance from the novice to learn or the experienced hunter. And not afraid to travel from wherever you are in the State (or out of the state). Here in South Florida, I travel 2 hrs. to my favorite hunt spot around the Everglades of Florida; or when I go to my other friend's place in N.W. Florida to hunt. It takes 5 1/2 hrs. to get there. I understand some of the your reasons....But, first take a moment to think; if you arn't willing to travel to the location....When I lived in Arlington; it used to take me 2 1/2 to 3 hrs. to get to my place. From S. Fla. it takes me about 36 hrs. round trip x3, just during rifle season, alone. This is just to give you an idea. ..... Responsible Hunters only.......... Post message w/ your e-mail or PM (Private Message) me w/ your telephone number.

I am mostly interested in deer hunting. I am not a novice by any means, just a person w/o a place to take his son deer hunting (son is 15).

I have hunted for 20+ years and 2 years ago the property I was hunting fell apart...I kinda lost interest and began focusing on rockfishing but it sure would be nice to shoot a deer again.

I have been a member of clubs but prefer still hunting and leaving the dog thing alone. I am a skilled archer, hunt with muzzelloader, shotgun and rifle.

We both have had hunter ed classes and respect the owners property and will not do any damage what so ever.

Thanks for your help. I am quite handy and have been involved with contracting and building trades all my life.

Thanks

I'd be interested in keeping your area up to your standards and using it in a way that benefits nature and the hunters involved if you're still offering.

Spent 10 years in the military as a medic (corpsman) with the USMC, and I'd appreciate the chance to help you in any way possible. I live right outside of Richmond.

I've hunted for 25+ years and enjoy all the great outdoors has to offer.

Hello KeepItReal,
I hope you’re still looking for the right people in assisting you with your property – I would love to help you help me - It’s hard to find safe hunting for my son (13), and the father son bond truly starts with Hunting and fishing together. Travel is of no concern as I commute to DC each day and take my son hunting on Saturdays (more during the holidays). I sent a private message with my contact info.. Thank you, Dave

How you doin, I'm interested in your offer and also have a hunting buddy who is also interested. I've worked in construction and carpentry and he is also a master carpenter. together i think we can do pretty much anything you need done. we both love to hunt and are really looking for a good place. we're both in the navy stationed in norfolk but don't mind the drive if the deal is right. we're currently deployed overseas until midsummer timeframe hopefully this won't pose a problem. Let me know what you decide. Look forward to working and hunting w/ you.

Will do whatever I can

Postby gerry » Wed Sep 09, 2009 8:37 pm

I've been trying to find a decent place to take my son, age 12, to hunt, where we might actually see a deer and not be overrun with other public land hunters. Your place would be absolutely perfect for us. We live in Manassas and could use the land often. Further, I can do almost any handyman job except fire and flood (electrical and plumbing). It would also be a great opportunity to teach my son about giving something back when given a chance to hunt.

I'd really like to discuss this at your earliest convenience. I can provide personal references and I'm willing to go the extra mile in order to secure a deal with you (building, repairing, maintenence, etc).

Sincerely,

Gerry B.

Sad to hear that your place got messed up, it sounds like something that some H.S. kids out driving at night in the country drinking would do.

I had a friend that was a farmer that I hunted on for many years until he got so old he decided to sell the farm and I never had any problem going out and helping him move cattle, move hay, etc. even got up on his roof and fixed his tv antenna one year in the winter, there's nothing wrong with a little 'sweat equity' and helping out when you get to hunt someone elses land.

Here's hopeing that you'll find a group of guys that are willing to treat your place with respect and help clean up around the place as needed.

Sorry to hear about the vandalism to your property. Myself, fiance and her twin sister are also property owners and have had similiar things occur. We currently live in the far westend of Richmond and own property in Louisa county that we visit each and every weekend and twice weekly either by us or relatives that live nearby. We (all three) archery and muzzleloader hunt and do not run dogs. We recently have planted food plots on a few acres of our property and are environmentally concious. Should you still need to find responsible persons to look after your property don't hesitate to contact us. We have the means and equipment to maintain property and roads, i.e. cut fields, bushhog, tractors, bobcat and dump truck. We would gladly maintain your property for the privilege of additional hunting property. Email at TraeC620@aol.com.

Hi Keepitreal
I am a native Virginian I have lived in Virginia all of my life except for the time I spent in the army. I am a disabled veteran and live about 45 minutes north of Richmond. It very hard to find places to hunt where I don't have to walk great distances and where I can put up a tree stand and leave it. I would be very grateful for the opportunity to look after your place and spend a few quite weekends alone. i am very handy with my hands and would be able to Handel an maintenance that needed to be done!

PS. I would be more than happy to tell you about my disability's in a privet e-mail, at "jefrice64@aol.com"

I know of two individuals that may fit your needs. I have a small farm in Fluvanna VA and the two that I speak of hunt my place and the public land near me. They've helped me through out the years with hey harvest, repair of equipment even mowing my grass. Thing is that I never have to ask.
This past April I had wind damage to my property damaging buildings, trees down, fences down and vehicals damaged, well guess who showed up without haveing to ask.
I have'nt mentioned this to them yet. If your interested let me know and the next time your going to be in the area shoot me an email and we can meet up some place.(steve.kidd@pwrops.com)
Hell if I'm not that far from your place perhaps I can check on it now and again.

Hello,
This is exactly what me and my Uncle have been looking for. We currently have 100 acres that we maintain and watch over and have hunting rights. Unfortunatley due to the economy the land owner is selling the property. He has offered to give a reference if needed to help us find a new home for the outdoors. I am 34 years old with a wife and three kids and I am a manager for a large recycling company in Virginia. I am a homeowner and very respectable. My Uncle is retired from a local newspaper company and his schedule is very flexible. Being able to keep the property maintained and also keeping an eye on the property year round is not an issue with us. Please consider the two of us for this offer and have a great day.
Thanks,

Your property near Richmond

Postby UncleBubby » Mon Nov 09, 2009 7:49 am

I am interested in helping. I just moved to Virginia this summer. I am looking for a place to hunt with my son who is turning 6 this year. I have been a deer hunter since college, mainly in MN near the ND and Canadian border. Now that I am in Virginia, it is a bit far to drive and with my son getting close to the age I need to find a more sutible place that he and I can hunt together. I walked some of the public land in Cumberland and Powhatan Lakes WMA and just have not been able to find a good spot. I would like to see what you had in mind for keeping an eye on your property. It sounds like a perfect fit for me and my son in exchange for the ability to hunt on a private tract of land safely. Plus it is close enough that he and I can run out there on the weekends when necessary, have a place to go and teach him everything my father taught me. My email is missonb@grangeinsurance.com. I am 34yrs old, wife & 3 kids. I work for Grange Mutual Insurance company in the claims department in Richmond.

Greetings,

I am not sure if you have found anyone to look after your land yet or not. But Myself and two friends have been looking for some land to hunt on where we could manage game all year long.

Sounds like your place might be perfect.

My name is Chris Fiore and my father Dr. Steve Fiore have been hunting for years but just have recently started getting serious about it for the past 3 years. We've been hunting along our neighborhood in Midlothian VA, but slowly are loosing permission do to development and have been looking for land to buy or lease. The problem is most places are taken andn are to far to travel. But living in Richmond VA :P this would be something special for us to do. We've been talking about leasing land since it would be good for both the hunters and the property owners. Most the places around here just shoot whatever whenever, and were more into management of property as well as the wildlife. With you owning such nice quantity of land this would be very possible to accomplish both are needs. Even if this opportunity has past for now if someone would not be able to continue the care and management of the property, we would always be willing to help you with this. My schedule is very lenient which would allow for me to make trips out there easily to go and maintain posted signs and clearing trails if need be. If you find time to shoot me an email about whether this offer still stands or has already been handed out this would be great. This would be a great investment for all who's involved.

when i read this it was like someone just answered my problems

Thanks again

I talked with my dad and he wants to do this we promise we will look over your property. We have the equipment necessary to get this job done. We have tractors, bobcats, brush hogs and all the tools to make great food plots and trails all while maintaining all the above. The Property will only get better with time and become a great habitat for all wild life. We have been looking and waiting for an opportunity like this if you could please send an email to one of the to email addresses about where everything stands with what or if your still looking for something serious. I hope this post gives you the reinsurance you are looking for after what it sounds like you've been having trouble with in the past.

Dear sir,
My name is David S. Morris and I am a Pastor of a Baptist Church in Scottsville, VA. (Calvary Baptist Church). I have lived in the area for the last 7 yrs. and am originally from the area. Myself and a trustee of our church would like the opportunity to do this for you and be a blessing for us as well. We would follow your instructions in every way and if we could not meet your requirements we would tell you up front. We simply desire a place that we can hunt without fear of poachers or of getting shot, a place that we can enjoy.
We would like to talk to you further about this and maybe give your more answers to some of your questions.

Thank you,
David Morris

I am very interested in speeking with you about this I would rather talk with you than to discuss this via internet. I believe that to know a person you have to speek to that person. I also have a son that helps me due to the fact that i am partialy disabled due to a nerve damaged in my back but i can still do just about anything. If you are interested in talking to me please respond so i can send you my phone number my email is gusgus3@comcast.net thank you for your time and have a great day and happy holidays to you and yours.
Thank You
Tj Dean
