Double beard down in Delaware!!

Postby bambeklr » Sun Apr 25, 2010 10:16 pm

Well I thaught I had been snake bit as far as turkey hunting. I was wrong. saterday at 12 noon I had this nice tom come in with a buddy. The shot was 45 yards. He was 23 1/4 lbs, 2 beards 10 1/2 and 7 inch. He had 1 broken spur, it was 1 inch and the other was 1 1/2. Pictures to come!! Best yet my buddy called me when I told him I killed a double bearded bird and asked me if he had white on his fan. Well yes he did and he sent me trail camera pictures of him!!

Awesome job! You even have the cam trail pics to show the before and after. Will be nice to call in a gobbler for your youngin in a few years.

Tony, if I am not mistaken you still have until the weekend to go. It is very hard to find a place. I lucked out a few years ago and got a small lease that the birds love to travel through. Its only 52 acres and mostly grass field. The place is surrounded by state land. I have to wait till the birds come to me unless I have drawn for a state land permit. If I was you, when you buy your license this year fill out the permit in the back to get drawn for state land. Put in for any season in redden state forrest. It is loaded with birds!!!

Yeah i just have been hunting saturdays though.cause i didnt want to take off work. Its messed up cause i had surgey on my hand the last week of jan.and didnt go back to work until the week that turkey season started. Now that its over im getting more surgery on mon.and will be off 3 more weeks.Go figure!!!I can hear the stripers calling me though. I have been deer hunting the same farm for 8 years now and have never seen one sign of a turkey.I can drive 5 miles down the road and see them every day.
