Eat lion?

Now that you've got them, what do you do with them?

Eat lion?

Postby rww86426 » Fri Aug 14, 2009 3:17 pm

Ive heard people talk about eating mountain lion, but want to know if anyone here has. Was thinking about buying a tag to have when i go for deer in Oct. But if it aint gonna be eaten, dont think i want to shoot. Not really into "trophy" hunting. But if i could eat the meat, wouldnt mind having a pelt. Thanks in advance for any replies (even the smart--- ones) LOL I can hear em already :D

Never had any myself but from what I understand Mountain lion tastes a lot like pork, and that people eat the steaks, crockpot the hams and even make chili.

Might be worth doing a google search for recipies.

Mountain Loins, pumas or cougars as they are called locally were aparently extrapated from my area (Ontario). The last wild cougar found, shot and killed in Ontario was in 1884, near Creemore, Ont.,

Some people have reported seeing the odd one, but most Ontario reports are unconfirmed. There is a bit of a mystery surrounding them in this area. Personally, I couldn't shoot one.

Thanks for the welcome tenpoints, Just talked to my bro.He was on his way back from Ark. & had to travel thriugh the area we will be hunting. Told him I was gonna get a lion tag (just in case). He said he saw a roadkill less than 2 miles from our hunt unit. They are pretty plentiful here. Fish & Game even has multiple bag limits. Also googled recipes & searched some other sites as sugested by bowhunters. All i read was that i would not be disapointed in the meat. Thanks all

You are fortunate then, best of luck with your hunt.

mountain lion?

A mountain lion would probably be very tasty. Being in the wild, they are not exposed to chemicals and other hazards. And if they taste like pork, probably a very lean pork. :D
