I have three pins on my bow, 20, 30 and 40 yards. You can shoot farther than that but I don't like to at deer, that's just me though. Figure out what you like and set pins for those yardages. Start at ten yards to make it easy. Sight in just like you would with a rifle. Shoot three shots then make adjustments to your pins. If your groups are left of the target, move your pin to the left if they're to the right move the pins right. Before all this though, you need to make sure the bow is setup for you. Take it to an archery shop and have them set it up for your draw length and a comfortable draw weight. Make sure the bow is paper tuned as well. Then make sure your arrows are cut to the proper length and that they are the same weight arrow. This will cut out all the variables out and if you're not shooting tight groups you will know it's something you're doing and not with the bow. Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

One other reminder. The sight on a bow are opposite that of a gun. When you are sighting your bow in you have to chase your arrow. So if your bow is shooting low you will want to move your pins down. Just remember that. It will save you alot of time.

Like the man said, remember if you shoot high, raise your pins, shoot low lower the pins.I f your borther sights it in,it will not be the same for you because draw, ect will not be the same. You would be better off being measured for draw before sighting in the bow.If the draw is to short or to long it affect how you shoot at proper draw. My advice, get your draw lenght first, then sight the bow.I think you will find it much easier to get your pins right then.

I agree with Richard. You will have to make adjustments once your brother sights it in and you get it set up for you. He may be shooting it at 65lb and you like 55lb or maybe 60lb. That will cause the arrow to drop as it is losing speed with the decrease in poundage. His shooting style is also differnt than yours. His draw length will probably be different also.

Go ahead and get it set-up for you and then get it sighted in. This will be the best option. I would also set the poundage for less than you want and work your way up to a higher poundage. Having a bow that has to much draw weight can cause some bad habits to be formed when shooting. Make it as comfortable to shoot as possible and get your muscles accustomed to the bow and then go up from there.

I would also suggest to keep everything simple at the beginning. Get a simple sight(3 pin), a whisker bisquit(WB), and an affordable release if you dont want to shoot fingers. You are going to have experienced shooters telling you to get this and that and most of it cost alot of money. With you having an older bow, you arent going to be getting the speeds of todays bows and wont need all of that fancy stuff just yet. Once you get a year or 2 under your belt, then you can go for the high dollar stuff like a new bow.

I am still a rookie with 4 years under my belt and just upgraded bows. I went form a 2004 Reflex to a 2004 Bowtech  . I still am shooting a WB and dont think I will change anytime soon.
