eileen, my favorite 3 leged deer

This is Eileen. She has been in my yard for 3 years now. Not sure what happend to her, but obviously shes had a serious injury. She walks like she has 3 legs, but when she runs, it's like shes got all 4. She leaps the wall in my yard from 10 feet away. it's awsome to see.
We've had a harsh winter so far, and you can see how much weight she has lost since the trail cam pic. There is sure to be a high mortality rate this winter.

If she survives this winter i'd think about getting a doe tag next fall just with her in mind, as she gets older she's going to find it more and more difficult to survive on three legs in deep snow and some winter some dogs or coyotes will pull her down.

Injured deer are exactly why I like to buy an extra tag and if you don't need all the meat lots of people like getting venison at Christmas.

I hope she survives and lives a long life!! Poor deer has lived this long against all odds. I'm rooting for the deer!


By the way I remember those stone walls! I used to live in new England for most my young life and we had those walls everywhere. Stone walls make good neighbors!
