I can offer you a few things, I have been a few times myself bow hunting.

1) Condition, get a pack load it with what weight and items you think you will be carrying out there and by no later than mid July start working your way up to at least 3 mile hikes, do some light running in your hunting boots, and use stairsteppers, the altitude and those mountains will whip your tail in the first few days making it much less enjoyable to hunt and harder to hunt.

2) Be mobile, they won't come to you that is one thing I learned they are WAY different from whitetails, meadows, marshes, fields in the early morning late evening, dark timber during the day. Slow stalk and have an excellent pair of binos

3) Shoot shoot shoot your bow, my group is going in Sept I have already started shooting, get comfortable with 50 - 70' shots (that will be your money maker).

4) Lastly get you a hoochie mamma call, they are worth it! Dont buy elk bugles and crap like that waste of money, also buy hunter specalities elk waffers, they are the best cover sent.

Good luck what unit did you get drawn for?
