We hunt on Quantico MCB and have had a tough time of it. I cut my teeth hunting on Quantico back in the late 70’s/early 80’s when the deer were plentiful. We would literally see dozens of deer per day (granted they were small…but for a beginning hunter, they were deer.) Seeing all of those deer really got my interest in hunting going.
For my sons (ages 10 and 13), we sit on stand for days and see very little or nothing at all. This has gotten very frustrating for my kids and I am afraid they will lose interest in hunting very quickly (my youngest, while only 10, has already said he isn’t sure he wants to hunt anymore…my oldest is still interested but expressing a lot of frustration. )
I am looking for a place my son(s) and I can hunt on Saturday afternoons (my older son plays basketball on Sat. mornings now) for a few hours that has a decent doe population. I just want somewhere that we can sit, hopefully see some deer, and get them the adrenaline rush that goes along with that.
My older son just started carrying a shotgun this year and my younger son (if he comes along) carries a BB gun (I figured it was best to teach them how to handle a gun with one that at worst…would cost us an eye...not our life.) Both boys are very safe with their respective guns (I have created two monsters with them constantly asking us to check our safetys.) I also sit with them (either in the open or in our blind) so as to supervise and guide them as we hunt.
Anyway, if you can help out please contact me at buzzard05@aol.com.
Thanks
