Field next door questions about food plot in TN

Postby DocRyan211 » Mon Jul 03, 2006 11:19 am

I just spoke with my neighbor this weekend(hard to catch type of neighbor). I asked him if I could work up a small field they used to use as a garden and put some sort of deer plot in, which he said would be fine. It would be a great spot to hunt for both of us, wooded on all sides, easily accessible, etc.
It is quite warm here in TN as it probably is most places, my question is what would be a good plot to put down that would attract deer this coming hunting season, and when should I put it down?? I was thinking about one of the biologic plots, plus maybe some corn?? I could put down about a 1/2 acre and still have plenty of room. I'm also fortunate, i've got a small tank for my pickup and a pump, so if it got really dry I could even water it. Any ideas? What about you DocHolliday since you are pretty much from the same area???

Thanks

I wouldnt put corn down as you will have to go harvest it before season starts if you are going to hunt it. I would go with a Biologic mix or a Tecomate seeds. I would suggest seeing what all is in them and going to the local Co-op and buying some of their seeds. They are cheaper than what I mentioned above and you get more of them.
Curiosity killed the cat, but I was a suspect for a while......
