First Bow

Postby TheRookie » Mon Aug 18, 2008 1:34 am

I married in to a family of hunters last year and am just learning about the sport. I wanted to buy a bow this year to extend my time in the woods. A guy from work offered to sell me a golden eagle bow for $100, but the only golden eagle bows I have seen online are youth bows. Is this brand any count, or should I look for something else? Also any other advice about getting into the sport would be appreciated.

Golden Eagle is an older model bow. They are often heavier and slower than some of the newer models. I have one that is very old that I keep as a backup bow. It has 16 doe and 5 buck kills to its credit. The bow has a lot of memories attached to it so I just can't get rid of it.If you buy that one it would be a dependable deer killing machine if setup right.

Ya you don't want to buy a bow just on cheap deal.
it has to fit you and be comfortable or you'll get frustrated.

Save up some dough...go to a pro shop and shoot every bow you can afford. You'll know when you get the right one.
