Fort Leavenworth Kansas

Postby Ranger6 » Fri Dec 15, 2006 5:35 pm

I will be moving to Fort Leavenworth Kansas, (non confinment side) this Spring. Does anyone have any words of wisdom on Deer hunting this area? Do they hunt on post or is it all private leased land? Any public areas worth a shot?

Thanks
Tom

Well yes, I moved from Leavenworth to FT.Riley about a year ago. So here it goes . FT.Leavenworth is a great place to hunt but there is not a lot of hunting area. Most of it is over by the air field and along the river . But these are very good areas for hunting, Turkey, Deer, Duck, etc... But if the fort does not work out for you there is Perry lake which has thousands of public acreage and is about 40 min. west of Leavenworth. If you go to the White tail forum on this chat line and look for Biggest doe that doe I shot was taken from Perry lake near valley falls, it's the best area up there. If you have any more questions feel free to ask or E-mail me. God bless Kenneth Hickman

p.s. If you don't mind driving two hours to hunt on weekends Ft.riley holds some of the states Biggest Bucks!!!

Just got here to Ft Leavenworth also. Will be attending school for the next year. I saw both of the comments from you all and wondered if you had any luck? I have been trying to meet folks around here myself to open the door but it has been slow. Would like to know if you had any words of encouragement or friends that may still be in the area I could link up with.

What about outside the Fort?

Postby Bladerunner » Fri Aug 21, 2009 3:53 pm

I'm visiting my In-law next month, Sept, 17 tile the 27. It looks like from the list you posted that I will be there Bow Season. Do you know what the rules are outside the Fort. My in-laws have mention that you can harvest Deer outside the Fort but I would like to know what the law before making a mistake that will cost me my Bow or a fine.

Thanks
