Look into the Bushnell Trophy 1.75-4 with the Circle-X reticle. I just sold 2 of them to a forum member from Missouri. I had them on my Rem. 700 ML and my Rem. 1100 deer gun. I replaced them with Leopold this year but there was nothing wrong with them. I got a new TC Encore and bought 3 scopes on a deal.

I would suggest to get what you can afford, but also try to get the best. The best being Leupold, Nikon and Burris(just a small list). The better quality the glass and maker, the more light the scope is going to pull in during those low light situations. I just recieved a new Simmons scope and it has fully coated optics and pulls in a tremendous amount of light. I compared it with a friends last years model Simmons and this one is "comparable" to Leupold in the clarity and light transmission. I am not saying that this is the best scope I could have got, but it is what I could afford.

I got the Master Series ProHunter 3-9x40. I installed it on my .270 Remington 700. Fully coated optics, Truplex reticle.

I have the same exact scope on my TC Thunderhawk. Its a great scope and hasnt given me any problems in the five years since I put it on .
