I'm just guessing but it could be any one of a number of things that lead him to say that about Hoyt bows.

Maybe he's one of those guys that thinks his brand of bow is the only good brand out there and the rest are junk.

Maybe he heard one at a bow range that was loud, it could have been because it wasn't properly tuned or didn't have silencers added that most all bows need to be quieter.

Maybe it was a Hoyt that was cranked up to get its maximum arrow speed, doing that on some bows can make them have more noise and vibration, most high speed bows when detuned slightly do get quieter.

Maybe he's trying to sell you his bow or he wants you to get one just like his.

My advice is to go to a reputable bow shop and tell the person working there you are planning to buy a bow soon and are shopping for the bow that will fit you and work well for you.

Tell them you want to shoot a few arrows on every bow that you can there, most shops have some bows that are already set up as if they would be used for hunting for people to try out on their range (its like taking a car out for a test drive).

They will likely have at least one Hoyt you can try and you can see for yourself how loud Hoyt's are compaired to other brands and which bow feels good to you in your hands and with luck one will stand out that you enjoy shooting because to get good with a bow to 40, 50, 60yds you'll need to shoot it a lot so its best to get a bow you really like and enjoy using.

I agree completely with bowhunters. Comfort is the key to success along with lots of time practicing. Any bow can be made quiet with the right accessories. Although, some are a bit louder than others. His reasoning behind saying hoyt bows are loud could be any number of things as bowhunters stated.

I shoot my bow every day, you don't have to shoot for hours though. I shoot 3 arrows, retreive them and wait about 5 minutes before shooting again. This pattern continues for about an hour or so and by doing that, I can hit a silver dollar sized spot at 60 yards with 3 arrows consistantly.

shoot every bow you can at your local shop before you make a decision and make sure its comfortable to you and is practical for the type of hunting you do. If you tree stand hunt, you don't want a long axle to axle bow. the shorter bows tend to be easier to manouver while in a stand. I hope this helped :D :D
I keep hearing this voice in my head that tells me to stay home and clean my guns...
