hanging deer help plz

hi i got two does one i hung out side in my shed for 7 days when i brought her inside to the basement she was frozen solid so i decided to bring the other one i got the day the morning before in i cut the one up the next day that hung for 7 days the other i let it hang for 4 days in the basement i got worried that it might be to warm in there and brought it outside to the shed i am just wondering if it is still good i hate to wast one of gods gifts and would feel bad if i had to do so but i also do not want to make my self or fam sick there was a very light odor i thought but my wife could not smell it can someone help thank you :( :( :( :( :(

What was the temperature in the basement?
Keep the tradition alive, teach a kid how to hunt.

about 50 maybe less cooler at night

50 is on the high side to store meat for an extended period of time.
Keep the tradition alive, teach a kid how to hunt.

so do u think i should keep it or throw it away i put it out side in the shed it is frozen now hate to throw it but dont want to get sick

I don't think anyone wants to put themselves out there and recommend what to do. I'd say that would be the limit of my comfort level, but I would guess the meat is still good.

If it is bad it may be slimy or have an odor. If not, you should be ok. Most bacteria present will be on the surface, so try to avoid grinding the meat and make sure to cook it well.

yep i cut her up and she was better than the first. the meat bleed out much better and was more of a pink red color but it was good still have a freezer full of meat but cant wait till next season :wink: :wink: :wink: :wink:
