ive been around guns all my life but never hunting(small birds etc) shotguns and i want to buy a over under one that i can also use for skid i am a big guy 6 feet 2 the budget is less than 3000$ ive seen beretas and brownings are they good? should the gauge be 12? should the shotgun have a 30 inch barrel or 28 or 26 ?please explain p.s iam going in march to orvis school for a 3 day training but before i would like to learn a bit....

I'm by no means an expert on over and unders, but I would recommend getting a 12 gauge. 12 gauge has so many different types of shotshell types and is available everywhere. I'd go with 20 gauge if recoil bothers you. Other than that I can't advise you confidently. I have a pump action shotgun for hunting and it's a 28 inch barrel. It works great!
