Help please

Postby whitetail581 » Mon Oct 03, 2011 10:43 am

Ok this all started about 3 weeks ago. I'm hunting on public hunting land and 3 weeks ago I walked this land out and there wasn't a stand anywhere so I hung my stand near a dried creek bed. The deer use the creek bed for travel. So on opening day of bow season I'm sitting in my stand its still dark and as the sun comes up where I can see. I hear some noise like a squirrel so I turn to look and notice a guy sitting in a stand 20 yds from stand. Where looking right at each other. This guy even urinated from his stand. To make things worse about 7:30 am he shoots a really nice main frame 8pt with lots of stickers and a drop tine. He was back again the next morning. Does anyone have any suggestion on what to do? I really hate to give up my hunting spot. But this is ridiculous!!!

Update; I'm hunting this stand again now there is a corn feeder up on the other side of them. They also put out mineral licks. Does anyone have suggestions on what to do?

Do I leave the spot for the other guy and find some where else to hunt.

Do I stink the area up for both of us.

Or do I move my stand further up the trail from him.

Hide an alarm clock near their stand in a branch above them and set it to go off during a time when they are there. Other than that, it's public land, there's nothing you can really do. You might have to just move and find another pinch point where you can get a crack at the deer before they get to this spot.
