I just wonder

Why do you think they would choose to bury the carcass instead of butcher it or at least have the head mounted? Or even skin out and bleach the skull.

I don't know, Carnivore, that's a good question? Don't think that he'd much good for eating!?! Maybe he was considered a threat? Maybe they planted him to grow little ones!?!

I'll so some reading and see if I can't find their explanation :!:

I've been told all these years that a boar that never got castrated was strong meat anyway thats why i have trouble understanding why the hog hunters want to harvest the big ones, seems to me the 40 to 90 pounders would be the best table fare. I know dad used to cut em so they would pack on the pounds.

eater pigs

Postby bambeklr » Tue May 10, 2005 6:51 am

Hey thats one big pig. I was hog huntin in south carolina at cypress creek outfitters last year and saw one around 600lbs. I couldnt get a clean shot. He was in some waist high grass and I could see his back fron 100yds. I didnt want to have to track him in the dark if he wasnt dead.

I ended up shootin a 175lb boar. They had a boar only policy. They are all wild fair chase pigs. We went for my buddys bachelor party. We dont like to hunt do we. We gave up the beer and strip clubs to hunt. I figure we would get in less trouble that way!!!

The groom to be killed a 50lb and a 55lb pig. They were great eating . As for my pig I made sausage and got him mounted. As a matter of fact I just got him back about a week and a half ago. He smelled a little strong so we just made sausage.

If you guys want a cool pig hunt and great lodging try cypress creek outfitters. You will meet a guide named bubba. That is a hog machine. He is the guide you want. You can look them up at cypress creek hunting lodge on your search engine. It was a blast.

Hogs that big are way,way too strong to eat, so they bury them. Pigs in the 50 to 200 pound range are top choice on the table.

Bambekillr, that sounds like the perfect bachelor party, wish I had thought of it.

IMHO, Pork flavor may be better with clean feed but it is the toughness that is bad in a big one! Those muscles are carrying a hell of a load! That hog was smaller and lighter than reported but is still a monster! I could make bar-b-que pulled pork samiches that would make you come back for more! Brent

personally in the case of hogzilla I really dont see any reason for killin somethin that big he's no good to eat so why kill it. I personally think he shoulda been left around for future breedin or as a sight seein thing or somethin. If ya cant eat it dont shoot it

I think that he was tearing things up on local farms and they wanted him killed.

I was watching a show on TV about hogzilla. Some of the experts said that the pic was tampered with. but I don't think it was. Every time i have gone hog hunting i have never shot anything. I usually go with my dad into the Mobile Delta were he shot a 400 pounder. We usually hear stuf but with those mosguitoes it is hard to keep still. No matter how hard you try you have to swat at it.

I heard Hogzilla was a mix as well. Regardless its still a big pig. I would have had the head mounted.

That is a bloody big pig! Here in Australia alot of us hunt pigs to sell to the overseas game meat exporters. We get paid by the kilogram (usualy about $1/kg) and I wouldn't mind getting a load of pigs like this one every weekend let me tell you! They should have (and probably did) taken his lower jaw at least.
