How do I keep my neighbors off our land?

Postby tex.w.tails » Wed Jan 19, 2005 2:33 pm

I have recently started hunting a small piece of land in South Texas. We have placed a deer feeder roughly 75 yards from the neighbors fence line tucked back in behind some brush. Within one month someone has stolen the battery out of it, so we replaced it- now they have knocked it over. This is not an area of a lot of poaching and we have never even seen people on the ranch this feeder sits by or heard any shooting. Other than possibly a trail cam and notifying the game warden, does anyone have any ideas how to catch these guys or prevent this from happening? No one else has vehicle access to our place and there are another 4 feeders that have not been touched.

Unless you are willing to sit out there and watch it yourself a trail cam is the only way. The game warden isn't very likely to watch it for you. A picture is worth a thousand words and you can get a conviction from a photograph. Just hide it well so they don't steal it too. You will want to buy one enentualy anyhow so you know witch feeder is drawing the best bucks in.

I'm with GC. You'll have them with a pic. Real hard to lie to the law with hard evidence in their hand.

i agree with them. it also helps if you have "No Hunting/Trespassing" signs put up. around here, in Tennessee, if you have a sign and someone is caught it helps to convict them because they are disobeying the sign.

The first thing you have to do is place a no trespassing sign or several in the area so as to make it very clear that they indeed are trespassing. I think it is very clear who is doing this but the pic will indeed help. Sounds like they might have a feeder in the area also and feel like you are trying to divert the traffic of deer off of the established trail. Unfortunately some idiots are not civil enough to come and talk to you if they have a problem. Put up the signs, use the cam and nab the idiots.
