About me, I live in the San Antonio area and have the opportunity to hunt in the Hill Country. This is my first season back after a few years off. I had two small daughters at home and I lost my long time pasture when our hunting lease was reconfigured...and, I had a good run and a freezer full of meat and I'm 'not mad at those deer' My home was robbed in Sept 08 and they made off with some of my guns, including my, at the time, top hunting rifle.
I missed it...and my 7 year old daughter loves it and is a good little hunting buddy. The season thus far has been pretty poor, or so I thought until I installed a game camera. Now I just need to figure out how to get the game moving during daylight hours.
I've got a pretty nice place to hunt just west of SA, 8 miles from my house, in fact. Apparently, there are some nice bucks out there, though we've never hunted it very seriously. We've always stayed out at our lease in Hondo that's big enough to support all the hunters my business employs and well, it better to shoot the deer you pay to shoot than your own deer.
But now....its a little different. I've made some mistakes with stand placement and I've had some other mishaps involving my dad's ranch hands and their penchant for clearing brush...around my stand....in the middle of the season..../facepalm.
But, I'm invigorated by the game camera pics and going to keep after it. So, thanks for having me, looking forward to interesting discussions.
