I think the DNR "made" extra tags, most years we're sold out by now. Of course with the new phone in system I dont think all deer are getting reported or tagged. With the economy too may not be as many tags selling/land to hunt. Thats neat I live in Jaksonville. Yep you hit the lottery there, not much ground left that isnt leased or overhunted/packed. East side of Morgan county is flat farm ground so that only leaves 2/3 huntable. Most of our ground is north near the Cass county border, we've got one farm to gunhunt in Cass and a few we can bowhunt. I didnt get Cass gun tags this year, first time in several years. Usualy get one set. We've got a few spots we trade work etc to hunt, few more that are friends/family and a few farms we lease mostly in Morgan. We've got a few spots scattered in the surrounding counties but nothing big, 5 acres to 80 or so. Rut ought to be slowing down by gun season, bucks ought to be done with the does and recouping or out looking for more hot does. Caught it just right last year, bucks were up running scrape lines again first gunseason. Took a 150ish 8pt and let alot of bucks walk. Yep, never know may run into each other. Good restuarants are almost non existent, El Racherito mexican aint bad. Got a new mexican restuarant supposed to be open in a few weeks east of our Farm n Home. Ponderosa aint bad, all the fast food/gutbuster joints suck. Both chinese are good, best buffet is of course a buffet. Everyones been bragging about Normas Northstar cafe on Walnut and Main but I havent tried it yet. We've got an Applebee's but its hit and miss. For a town of 22,000 there aint much to eat or do. Hardee's has the best fast food breakfast here, opens at 5am for hunters. Let me know if you need any info etc. Good Luck, hope you get your guttin knife bloody.
